When I asked any of the few I knew had been to Portland prior to getting to the city*, I was given a few explicit instructions: Powell’s, Voodoo Doughnut, Mother’s Cafe. Couple those with the Union Station (which just looked cool), and I’d pass along any to future visitors. *Not counting the countless ones I’d gotten while IN the city; we were only there for the afternoon
